Sweater dress & Election Day 2016

dsc_10452dsc_10182
I am loving this weather lately. It’s the second week of November and although it could snow any day now, the bright sun shining and the 60 degree days are pretty amazing. I’m not a fan of the cold at all and anyone that knows me knows I would rather be smoldering hot than be cold. All the layers in the world just don’t work– basically my fingers and toes get so unbearably cold that I can’t handle it! I have bad circulation so I have yet to find something that works well for those long amounts of time outside (dog parks, skiing, hiking, football games). I need hand warmers for each individual finger and toe warmers for each individual toe. I should get myself those gloves that have that ability – has anyone tried them? (more…)

8 Fashion Opposites that ALWAYS attract

My friends have always critiqued me- or maybe they were complimenting me?- when it came to my choice of outfits.  I mean saying “What the hell are you wearing?!Only you could pull that off!” – is a compliment, right? I’d like to think so.

Whether it was wearing a party dress with ankle booties, wearing a white crew t-shirt tucked into my black leggings with a navy blazer or mixing patterns like floral with stripes, or my favorite- wearing cute socks with closed toe heels! (oh my, a horror to my friends), I ALWAYS strive to make Fashion fun- to make it ME- to make it different- and the best part is — I actually don’t care what people say- because as long as I feel confident and I feel good- I have a great time and I get things done! “Look good, Do good” mentality.

I know there are a lot of people out there who may not feel as confident or as comfortable stepping out of the norm. I guess what I mean is people who don’t live and breathe fashion. You know the people who find items that “go” together…. making sure the jacket matches the shirt or the top matches the pants.

All that going and matching and fitting might make for a perfectly good outfit, but it’ll never really get you to a great one. For greatness, you’ve got to go in the opposite direction.

I make it a point to find items based on differences, rather than similarities. You know this actually helps you get more use out of your clothes than if you were persistent on always matching.

I will share with you the common ways to not follow the “My shirt must match my pants” mentality and thus get that Great outfit!

1) Wear ankle boots with a party dress. You will look fierce, yet not too prim and proper.

2)Vintage tees with classic blazers

3) Jeans and Heels

4) Stripes and Florals – okay, do pick a color that is in both prints – like blue stripes — blue florals 🙂

5) Brown and Black and Black and Navy – I remember when people would cringe (and still do) when I tell them to wear their brown shoes with black pants. Same for Navy/Black. Think LBD with a navy gold chain clutch.

6.) Leather Pants and Chunky Comfy Knit Sweater – something cozy and sexy about some leather and a gramma knitted warm sweater.

7). Leather “work men” belt and polished dress or coat or high waist long skirts – In college, I would wear a belt with almost every outfit. I have my mothers Camel color leather braided belt that she wore in Poland when she was in her 20s =)white-summer-dress-with-brown-belt-pr8av7n5

8) Boxy top and a pencil skirt – love this look.

Wedding outfit #6 + Fall Festival

As promised, my outfit to the wedding! (and my handsome guy)
unnamed (1)

The dress is by Gypsy 05  sweater material, long sleeved, above the knee paired with dark nude closed toe pumps. It was perfect – I wasn’t cold or hot – I was just the right temp all night.

Gorgeous wedding and a gorgeous young couple at the Seaport in Boston 🙂 Love Love.

We used the Uber car service to pick us up and bring us back home after the wedding – so smart as it was open bar ALL night. We defiantly enjoyed ourselves.

On Sunday, Nico went to play Kickball and I took Freddy to brunch with my girlfriends.. He met little Bella – my friends rescue dog – so precious. She took some time to warm up to Freddy, but eventually came around. Freddy was so cute, slowly nudging a toy over to her so she would play with him.

We went to Newburyport for the annual Fall Festival. Ok, I know in some way, I “signed up for this”, (as my friends pointed out) but I’m sorry if I get a little annoyed that the majority of my time out, I need to stop and answer questions about Freddy: yes, hes a goldendoodle, his name is Freddy, he is a he, he is X weeks old.. he is a mini-size…. I mean, don’t I get to enjoy my day out too? I know I’m being selfish?- maybe  little, but is it bad I just want to hand out biography cards to  people so I can enjoy making memories with my friends?

I DID NOT sign up for that!  .. I know I’ll warm up eventually and get used to it….right?

Well, now that I’m done with my little rant -(Sorry!) the time I got to enjoy the festival was great –warm bread bowls, fried chicken and ribbon fries, fried dough, candy apples, hot cider.. the works!!

I hope everyone got to enjoy some gorgeous fall activity out there!  I can’t get enough 🙂 There is a Halloween Pumpkin Stroll this weekend! I hope we end up going

Xo,

1) Something Leather!  I’m really going to try and make this trend work for me again this year I’m thinking a leather skirt this time- a colored leather skirt- the color is key this Fall! Last year, I got this fabulous pair of BCBG Leather leggings that looked amaze for a night out with heels, or for a casual lunch date with flats and a basic tee.

2) White on White! I recently started wearing white pants and I love it! By the way, whoever says “no white after Labor Day” needs to understand Fashion and grow up! Real Fashionistas don’t follow that! Don’t believe me? Check out the NYFW & LFW for proof. Im totally going to embrace white -on white. maybe mix different shades of white? Love it.
